As a fast-growing firm, LLI offers strong, talented candidates a challenging consulting career in strategy development and the opportunity to make significant contributions in a small, dynamic environment.

Intern

LLI offers both part-time and full-time internships year-round to undergraduates from top colleges and universities.

Full-time internships are available over the summer and during “off” terms in the academic year. Part-time interns should be NYC-based and able to work 20+ hours a week, preferably in large blocks of time (full or half-days).

Interns are typically assigned to a project and considered a full part of the project team. They gain hands-on experience analyzing the key factors driving clients’ businesses, assisting with the qualitative consumer research process, developing visual/verbal stimuli, and helping create client presentations and strategic recommendations. In addition to performing project activities, interns contribute to LLI’s New Business efforts and complete some administrative tasks.

Consultant

Recent college graduates enter LLI at the Consultant level.

Consultants are the “keeper of the project keys.” They quickly internalize the steps of projects, demonstrate a working understanding of the philosophy and principles behind the process, and provide the internal leadership required to keep a project progressing smoothly and on schedule.

Consultants gain hands-on experience analyzing the key factors driving clients’ businesses, managing the qualitative consumer research process, creating visual/verbal stimuli, planning client meetings and creative sessions, and developing client presentations and strategic recommendations.

In addition to project activities, Consultants contribute to LLI’s New Business efforts by conducting industry research and developing proposals and capabilities presentations.

Senior Consultant

The Senior Consultant serves as a “bridge” between clients and the firm. From the client’s perspective, the Senior Consultant is the day-to-day resource responsible for planning and running consulting engagements. Senior Consultants demonstrate the external leadership necessary to gain a client’s confidence and trust. They have a clear understanding of the strategic issues the project must address and are able to reflect those issues in the project structure.

Internally, the Senior Consultant is a mentor and a trainer to the Consultants. Senior Consultants also work closely with the Partners and Senior Strategists to keep them abreast of the day-to-day project issues and focus their efforts on the key strategic issues. Candidates for the Senior Consultant position typically have 4-7 years relevant business experience.

Senior Strategist

The Senior Strategist has the insight and experience needed to develop and explain strategic recommendations. They serve to clarify project issues and objectives and lead hypotheses development. Senior Strategists build on their demonstrated ability to lead projects, providing the internal leadership necessary to develop consultant talent.

Senior Strategists work closely with the partners to manage workflow and staffing decisions. Senior Strategists are able to help more junior consultants develop the skills they need. They are involved in project planning and pricing, with responsibilities for project profitability.

Senior Strategists are able to leverage their client relationships to generate new business leads and are comfortable representing the firm in a new business setting.
